Tyler Retel began his EMS career in 2012 as an EMT with the City of Virginia Beach. He was an active member with the Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue squad until 2015. During this time, he served as the Training Lt. and as a Proctor at the Training Center.
In the Fall of 2015, Tyler started school at Jefferson College of Health Sciences where he earned his Paramedic and Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Services. While attending school, Tyler worked as a part-time EMT and then as a Paramedic in city and rural areas.
Since moving back to the Tidewater area, he has been working as the OEMS Regional Educator for the Tidewater Region. Tyler is excited to rejoin VBEMS and enjoys going to the gym, movies, hiking, the beach, and spending time with family and friends in his spare time.
