Shelby Northam started her career as a first responder at the age of 14 with a small volunteer fire department on the eastern shore of Maryland. While in high school, she completed her training and graduated as a certified Firefighter/EMT, then proceeded to obtain her A-EMT.
Shelby volunteered as an A-EMT for several years before she began her career as a Paramedic for the Northampton County Department of EMS. She later transferred to the Accomack County Department of Public Safety where she obtained her Paramedic certification from Wor-Wic Community College in Maryland.
In her free time, Shelby enjoys spending time with her two dogs and playing bass with the band Candi.
Shelby came on board with Virginia Beach EMS in April, 2020.
